Working collaboratively towards human flourishing through the achievement of realistic goals and priorities in ways that work effectively.

I have been a registered psychologist since 2002 and been in private practice for over 20 years. Apart from private practice, I have mostly worked in the Non-profit and Mental Health Hospital settings, primarily in the areas of Trauma and acute Mental illness. For over 20 years I been providing professional development training on a variety of topics from Mental Health First Aid, Occupational Mental Health and Safety, Mindfulness, Trauma & Vicarious Traumatisation. My private practice work is currently utilising Telehealth and is therefore available to all locations. For Mental Health First Aid and Workplace Training I am able to provide training on site, at my training rooms or via Zoom. I am also available for public speaking and talks on Mental Health - sharing my experiences as a psychologist with lived experience who has experienced profound traumatic growth.

I have over 10 years experience as a board approved AHPRA supervisor. Bowen has completed advanced training in CBT, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Narrative and Existential Therapy, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Mindfulness. I am also a Yoga teacher and trainer with accreditation & experience in Trauma Sensitive Yoga.

I strongly believes in a collaborative approach to therapy to ensure that approach that is used, the areas that are covered and the overall pace of the therapy is tailored specifically to your needs. You should come away from your very first session with a much stronger idea of what is possible.

I am psychologist with lived expereince of trauma and mental illness. I also have a history of alcohol and drug use and criminal behaviour as a teenager, as well as vicarious traumatisation and PTSD later as a psychologist working with Torture Victims in long term Immigration detention. Including experiencing much pain and suffering I have also experienced traumatic growth and believe I am a more effective therapist and human from living and growing through very difficult circumstances. My ideal client is someone willing to work wholistically on all levels of their life to achieve a resilience and growth that not only promotes a deeper wisdom and insight into their life but that also encourages genuine attitude and lifestyle changes that help achieve ongoing happiness, well being and realistic success.

I am also passionate in my work as a Mental Health First Aider, Speaker and Trainer and welcome any opportunity to help improve understanding and knowledge in workplaces and the community on both the challenges and opportunities that can come from mental health crises that can impact us all either first or second hand.
